Ferrous Iron Problems

There are two types of iron in water: Ferrous and Ferric.

1. Ferric Iron is the most common. This type of iron is removed by our regular AquaOx system.

2. Ferrous iron is uncommon but does still happen in some cases. Ferrous iron is not oxidized and has to be oxidized to be removed from water. Otherwise, It will pass through any filter on the market. That is what the FE Edition is for. It oxidizes the ferrous iron so that it can be removed from the water.

How do you know which one you have? The best way to figure out if you have Ferrous iron is to get a white 5 gallon bucket and fill it with tap water. If the water is clear, set it aside for a couple of hours. If the water changes color to a tea or orange color over time, then you have Ferrous iron. If the water comes out of the faucet tea colored or orange colored straight away, then you have Ferric iron and our main system will remove that iron from your water.
